Thoughts on the passing of my daughter in law...
Spoke today with other family. Vickie was gentle, generous soul. We will miss her laughter and kindness. She was the constant foil for her husband's humor and joking (which he did promote the laugh from her of which he was so fond). Andy shared she had the "Snow White Effect" around animals. That is they just took to her and she to them. Her goal was to be a dr. of vet medicine -- she would have been a great one.
“He Prayeth best, who loveth best; All things great and small; For the dear God who loveth us; He made and loveth all.”
― Samuel Taylor Coleridge, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Hope
For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and at the last he will stand upon the earth.
And after my skin has been thus destroyed,
yet in my flesh I shall see God,
(Job 19:25-26 ESV)
But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David understood that the child was dead. And David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” They said, “He is dead.” Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes. And he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. He then went to his own house. And when he asked, they set food before him, and he ate. Then his servants said to him, “What is this thing that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive; but when the child died, you arose and ate food.” He said, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, ‘Who knows whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’ But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.”
(2 Samuel 12:19-23 ESV)
Love
...a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
(Isaiah 53:3a ESV)
John 6:37
All that athe Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
Jesus wept.
(John 11:35 ESV)
Faith
Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.”
(Luke 20:38 ESV)
