If you have downloaded Project Gutenberg etexts you can try this app. It uses etexts to create an HTA(HTML Application). The HTA will let you play a text back via SAPI TTS.

To run:
1) Double-click the file 'MakeTTSBook.hta' to run program
2) Click 'Browse' to browse to an etext file
3) Click 'MakeBook' to generate the TTS book
4) Click the resultant file_etext.hta


Notes:

The original etext is left intact -- but, is parsed by 'Chapter' or 'CHAPTER' to produce individual chapter sub-etexts. These are linked together with an file_pg_etext.HTA file. Click 'Play' to play the displayed chapter with text-to-speech('Stop' to stop TTS).
